I teach and mentor to empower my students in the classroom, in the lab, and in life. I believe everyone has the potential to be a scientist and I want my students to understand that they are scientists in training, right from the beginning. To that end, I am dedicated to fostering scientific thought and understanding among diverse groups of students. I work to create an inclusive environment to ensure that scientific knowledge is accessible to all.

I’m an experimental plasma physicist, and enjoy exploring the connection between experimentation and theory. My area of research is the nature and effects of turbulence in plasma systems, which is a crucial element in clean-energy generation, specifically in fusion energy and astrophysics.

I am a lifelong learner. One of my goals is to better understand the food, language, and history of my Puerto Rican roots. My drive to never stop learning has also taken me into Olympic weightlifting, where my goal is to continue to develop my technique and accomplish a 200lb snatch (lifting the barbell from the ground to overhead in one continuous motion). I enjoy the outdoors, hiking, and just lying in a hammock.
